In the U.S., there are about 6,500 certified installers, according to Lisa Fasold, communications director for the Consumer Electronics Manufacturing Association.

"There will always be a demand for good installers," says Eddie Runner, an installer and business owner in Texas. "No matter how many electronic goodies your car comes with from the factory, folks will always want more stuff."

Salaries in the U.S. range from minimum wage to as much as $50,000 a year for top-notch installers, according to Runner. The average salary is between $18,000 and $22,000.
