Mover Leo Miller believes "the outlook for the industry is good."

"As far as the industry outlook goes, at this point ours is a growing and maturing industry," says MaryScott Tuck. She is the training coordinator for the American Moving and Storage Association.

"There will always be people needing to relocate, thus always a need for moving and storage companies. As the market diversifies, expands and matures, there will always be a need for new ideas and new infusions of people at all levels from packers to the executive suites."

It's possible to make a good living in this field.

"According to our latest study, the average president or general manager will make an average salary of $75,066, with commissions of $7,000, bonuses of $28,747, for a total gross salary of $87,190," says Tuck. "The gross salaries range from $26,000 to $640,698 [excluding the presidents or general managers of the major van lines]."
